Arezzo

 

Arezzo is located on a hill in eastern Tuscany near the Tuscan-Romagnolo. As evidenced by the very architecture of the city, boasts ancient origins that has seen to be one of the major Etruscan cities and then a strategic Roman city.

The highest part of the city retains a strong medieval aspect, dominated by the Cathedral and the Medici Fortress. The Cathedral, which presents in his rather Gothic preserves valuable works of art including La Maddalena by Piero della Francesca and the stained glass windows by Guillaume de Marcillat.

The "Giostra del Saracino"

 

It 'a medieval reenactment that takes place in the city of Arezzo. Participate in the four districts in which the city is divided, namely: the District of Port Crucifera (aka Colcitrone), the District of Port Forum (also known as San Lorentino), the District of Port St. Andrew and the District Porta Santo Spirito (first called Porta del Borgo).

The tournament is run in Piazza Grande in Arezzo on the second Saturday of June (Joust of San Donato) at night and the first Sunday of September (Giostra of September) daytime.

Reserve di Ponte Buriano e Penna

The reserve extends for about 7 km long along the Arno, the Romanesque bridge of Ponte Buriano to the power plant located downstream of the dam ENEL of Penna and includes the artificial dam and the adjacent land areas. The landscape is characterized mainly by the rolling hills surrounding all'invaso, consisting of fluvial-lacustrine sediments of different ages, with occasional presence of cliffs and vertical walls. From the paper mill in Ponte a Buriano to Rondine, the Arno flows embedded in the rocks, while from Rondine to Penna the river widens to form the reservoir of the pen.

The wine roads
The "Wine Roads" are routes characterized by naturalistic, cultural and historical, as well as vineyards and cellars of individual or associated farms open to the public, promoted and governed by regulations issued by the Region of Tuscany (LR August 13, 1996, n. 69 and LR August 5, 2003 n. 45, art. 2).

The Wine Road Terre di Arezzo is a way to strengthen the culture of quality and hospitality.
