Casentino
Valley located north of the province of Arezzo. It is the valley in which runs the first leg of the Arno River, which originates from Mount Falterona, which, together with the Monte Falco (1658 m above sea level), is the northern limit of the valley, on the border with Romagna. The Alpe di Serra and the Alpe di Catenaia separate, in the East, the Casentino from Val Tiberina. In the West the Pratomagno separates it from Upper Valdarno. The western elevations of the complex of Monte Falterona finally separate the valley from Mugello.
The Casentino was inhabited since prehistoric times farther away, they find themselves in the territory traces of the Middle Paleolithic. Pieve di San Pietro a Romena is a Catholic place of worship which is at the foot of the castle in the Romanian town of Pratovecchio.
